Delivering an adventure therapy program, 8 week sailing program, for people who have been through trauma and exhibiting signs of PTSD, Anxiety and Depression. We teach both the theory and practical side of sailing. We have built and introduce participants to a community where they can belong and be safe and not judged, and they learn life skills at the same time…..communication, working in teams, handling issues, carrying out functions correctly, fitness
80% success rate at getting people back to work and to move on with their lives. Our pilot program was 12 weeks long. It was 50/50 male and female from a range of professions and backgrounds….the only commonality was experiencing trauma. To see police, nurses and others return to work, a veteran start a small business and an agronomist kick off her own company just to mention a few is a success.
Carrying out a 3 year research program with university looking at adventure therapies. “If it wasn’t measured it never happened” Yoav Ben David, Founder “The Boat is Sailing” project 2005 in Israel. In conjunction with University of Southern Queensland Resilience Sailing ran a pilot program with successful and encouraging results in 2018. USQ Ethics have now signed off on a 3 year project to research adventure therapy based on Resilience Sailing’s program. We will test all participants 4 times in each program (3 times during and once 3 months later). A full report will be made available once all the research is completed
Above all we have fun.
