It’s THAT time again, School holidays are here! Due to COVID-19 many of our local venues have been closed and some regular kids activities have gone online, so to help you find fun things to do locally during your school holidays we have invited locals to share their new offering with us and you, our community.

VISIT A LOCAL PLAYGROUND
There are so many great open spaces to take advantage of in and around Townsville, many of which have been upgraded in recent times, offering something for families with children of every age to enjoy. Check out the Townsville Family Life playgrounds guide and if you spy a new playground we should check out, please let us know about it.
BILLABONG SANCTUARY RE-OPENING!
We are so excited to see the amazing local team at Billabong Sanctuary re-opening and ready to welcome locals and out of towners alike from June 27th and just in time for the school holidays.
Hop in and reconnect with all your favourite native animals.
With 10 hectares of beautiful parkland available, we will not have to limit visitor numbers.
For everyone’s safety, the team will require all visitors to observe strict hygiene and social distancing guidelines, so no wildlife talks or souvenir photos at first– this will be reviewed after the holidays. Instead Roving Rangers will circulate throughout the day with different animals for photo opportunities.

FREE KIDS SPORTS TESTING
Got kids who love sport? Locals TPM (The Physio Movement) have arranged School Holiday fun for the Fitness Fanatics! From 29th June – 4th July TPM is offering children aged between 8-16 the opportunity to access our sports performance testing FREE of Charge!
Your 15 minute sporting assessment will Go through a series of tests to address any Risk of injury + Assess Strength, Power and Agility + Improve co-ordination Performance
Come and have some FUN in our elite sporting performance centre

LEARN TO SAIL
Tackers 1 School Holiday Program (July 7-10) Looking for a fun outdoor activity for the kid this school holidays?
Why not enroll your child into a Tackers learn to Sail Program. This course aims to provide children aged 7-12 with a fun, safe and affordable way to get into sailing.
The course cost includes a “Tackers” pack, safety and sailing equipment as well as 3 months Townsville Sailing Club membership.
This allows your child to practice what they have learned through our Sunday sailing, and become involved in club activities.
MUSEUM ONLINE SCHOOL HOLIDAY PROGRAM
The Museum of Tropical Queensland may be closed for now, but the team are not leaving you in the lurch these winter holidays! Get ready to learn about the athletic abilities of Australia’s animals and see how you compare.
Try to beat the by-the-wind jellyfish across the ocean, out run the emu and even out jump the green tree frog.

UMBRELLA STUDIO FUN FOR KIDS
Calling all children aged 3-11 years! Join Umbrella to create artworks and have fun these school holidays.
Umbrella’s Creative Kids program features ‘Planimals’ by Karen Williams.
This engaging activity has extended into the gallery space as free self-guided activities.
In the short stop-motion video tutorial, Karen’s creatures teach children how to use basic art materials to draw, cut, collage and create colourful, quirky, kooky ‘planimals’ (half-plant, half-animal hybrid) characters.
