The Upper Ross Community Fun Day aims to bring a low-cost, fun family event to an area which, at times, can be overlooked, while also raising awareness of the services available to provide support to community members from all backgrounds and at all stages of life.
This has become a regular event, hosted by Community Gro annually in the Upper Ross area for 20+ years!


And the 2022 instalment is intended to be BIGGER and BETTER than ever.

Dinosaur Discover School Holiday Program

STOMPING GOOD FUN WITH DINOSAUR DISCOVERY! 

Walk with the dinosaurs this school holidays with World Science Festival Queensland at Museum of Tropical Queensland.

There’s a hidden dinosaur trail, prehistoric crafts, digi dinosaurs and fossil fun to be had. To top it all off, Erth’s Dinosaur Zoo show will transport audiences to an exciting bygone era with fun, interactive and educational theatre performances.

PINOT & PICASSO – SCHOOL HOLIDAY PROGRAM

School holidays means time to plan some activities for the little Picassos!
Our studio will be running both Kids and Family-Friendly sessions – so whether you’d like some peace and quiet by letting our artists entertain the kids for a couple of hours, or if you’d like to creative yourself with the fam, we can cater for both! 

It’s time to swap screens for paint brushes these school holidays!

TOWNSVILLE TRAIN PARK JUNE RUN DAY

Sunday June 26 starting at 10AM

4 petrol outline locos running, which should mean plenty of rides for all, with minimal wait times.

The team of volunteers may end up having a pleasant surprise up their sleeve, so keep an eye out for further announcements!

Weather forecast currently for partly cloudy, with a maximum of 25°c.

Espresso Benvenuti -espresso welcome & will be there providing hot and cold food, drinks and snacks: eftpos available.

$6 for unlimited rides, Kids under 2 ride free with a paying adult.

Cash only – no eftpos.

Fully enclosed footwear is required by ALL people riding the trains.

Circus Performing

Discover the world of circus at Willows. Learn exciting new skills and circus tricks like plate twirling, balance beam walking, hula hooping and more at the Circus Performing Workshops.

Everyone’s a winner at Sideshow Alley! Test your luck in games of fun and skill like ball toss, pluck a duck and ring toss.

Magic Shows

Prepare yourself for a good belly-laugh and be entertained by the humorous Windy Wizard. Watch in awe as he demonstrates his mystical magic tricks, balloon sculpting and more.

Face Painting

Stand out from the crowd with free face painting! Will you be a lion, a butterfly or a clown? You decide!

British theatre company Get Lost & Found partnered with Interactive Theatre International (ITI) are proud to present the Australian Premiere of

Roald Dahl and the Imagination Seekers at North Australian Festival of Arts from 29th June to 2nd July.

All around the world, Roald Dahl’s words are disappearing not only from books but children’s minds too!

Now only a Secret Organisation known as The Ancient Guild of Taletenders can save the stories and they need your help…

The Townsville Show is held late June and early July each year.

The Townsville Showgrounds is located on the southern side of Castle Hill and adjacent to Ingham Road, approximately 5kms from the city centre. In use as a showground since 1882, the Townsville Showgrounds is integral to the important Queensland showground circuit that culminates in the annual Royal National Agricultural and Industrial Association of Queensland [RNA] Exhibition in Brisbane. It remains one of the longest-running showground facilities outside Brisbane and is one of North Queensland’s premier showgrounds.

The Townsville Showgrounds provides an important venue for showcasing and facilitating the expansion of pastoral, agriculture and industrial production and innovation in North Queensland during the late nineteenth century and much of the twentieth century.

Elliot Springs Drive in Movie

The drive-in movie will be a free event, with food for purchase from the roving food trucks.

Enriching our community connection by bringing our residents together, the drive-in movie event is a great excuse to have a night off cooking, eat out with family, meet friends, and even make new ones. We can’t wait to see you there!

WHEN: Saturday, 9 July

TIME: Cars can arrive from 4pm, live music commences from 4pm, movie starts from 6pm.

WHERE: Wadda Mooli Park

COST: Free, however cars must register for a ticket to help us with marshalling and safety requirements
